Why don't you try a light gray background with black text and keep the red trim? And if that doesn't work, try something else...and so on until you have it where you want it.

That is my plan, actually. Yesterday I was messing with the CSS file to attempt to figure out what colors go to what. Grey text input with black text? Okay, I think that works, I will give it a shot and see what the handful thinks.
