A Sad Day...

Shows immediately affected by Hollywood writers strike

Networks said the following shows will immediately go into reruns because of the writers strike:

? NBC: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and "Last Call with Carson Daly." :(

? CBS: "Late Show with David Letterman" and "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson." :(

? Comedy Central: "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" and "Colbert Report."

Nothing to look forward to watching after 10:00 for now. Hopefully the sitcoms we are currently enjoying will make it through the end of their seasons!

if by interesting you mean not cool, I agree with you :p

I am happy that most sitcoms have their stuff written out well in advance, or I could be sad to come home to no Big Bang on Monday's, or *gasp* no House. Now I should be able to catch up with my remaining Daily Report episodes :D
I will have something here... at some point...

yep, I read that, and if it went as long today as it did then, it would cost them around 1 billion dollars... crazy...

well no new eps of A LOT of shows, it's a BIG deal, but of course it COULD afford a newbie the opportunity to maybe get into the business.

Well it will not be a lot of shows unless it is extended out. So your Monk, for example, is still in good hands for a little while.

First one I found:
not getting better

I have been watching ET & they were showing the writers picketing. It seems to me they have all the support of the actors/performers. Of course, I am sure some of that is because without the writers the performers really don't have jobs! I guess I do not understand why it is such a horrible thing they are asking for...they get paid their share for the shows aired on tv/movie theaters, but they are not getting their share for the re-runs or the shows played online or via a game system (like x-box downloads) or whatever else...that is all they want, is their cut for all that - who is getting it now? Whoever it is is being greedy and messing things up for a lot of people!

My Name Is Earl, ER, Desperate Housewives, NCIS, The Office - all very popular shows that I hadn't even thought of - I can't imagine if this goes on too long the trickle-down that I haven't thought of at all.

I think it would be awesome to bring back some reruns of OLD shows (ALF, Mr Belvedere, Life Goes On, Wonder Years) to fill the time while new ones are not airing. Unfortunately, it will probably cause a bigger boom or sucky reality shows because they do not need writers :-&

end of the article:

"Hollywood writers went on strike last time in 1988, when the 22-week work stoppage caused a major disruption in entertainment productions and cost the industry an estimated 500 million dollars.

The current strike is expected to last longer and have a trickle-down effect, affecting everyone related to the entertainment industry, from technicians to restaurant waiters, gardeners, florists and dog groomers in the Los Angeles area. "
